Review
Being largely an adolescent male movement, the theme that garage bands explored most often was problems with women. On one end of the scale were the snotty "you did me wrong" rants and on the other end of the scale were lonely laments. No No No compiles an excellent set from the latter category—minor-key downtempo tales of woe. (Arf Arf has also put out a companion volume of upbeat songs called "Yeah Yeah Yeah") Much like Teenage Shutdown's collection "I'm Down Today", a strong Byrds influence can be heard on this compilation, especially in the vocal harmonies, but No No No never strays from garage rock. No No No includes no liner notes, only photos of the label of each of the original 45s that make up this collection—A little disappointing, but No No No is about atmosphere anyway. Arf Arf clearly went to some effort to put together such a consistently good collection and the sound quality is good despite that all of the tracks were transferred from 45s.
